How would "Keep Portland Housed Work?" The package includes vital interventions aimed at preventing displacement before it occurs and building permanent public housing assets for Portlanders. It proposes major investments in tools like rent assistance and eviction protections that keep people housed now, as well as cost-effective long-term programs like rent buy-downs and property acquisitions that will move us towards a social housing model that can provide high-quality, permanently affordable housing for all.

Healthy, Plentiful, and Affordable Housing It’s no secret Portland and many other U.S. cities are deep in a housing crisis, but we didn’t get here overnight. Portland needs more affordable housing — whether you rent or own. We need to help move people experiencing homelessness into stable housing with adequate services, and we need help for people at risk of eviction to keep them housed in the first place. Portlanders deserve a city council that will fight for healthy, plentiful, and affordable housing. On City Council I will use my expertise as an economist to fight for policy that makes Portland a place people can afford to live and thrive.
"Like a lot of Portlanders I'm worried that the big, bold things we do in this town are at risk of being cut down early out of impatience and fear, precisely when we should be holding fast and nurturing them. I'm talking about things like Preschool for All, M110, a real commitment to solving the housing crisis, the Portland Clean Energy Fund and our transit and cycling infrastructure," Green says. "I wanted to make sure that people living in District 4 who still believe in the Portland Idea - that we can fight to build things that make our lives better - have a voice and someone who will champion them."
