They're gonna ask for confirmation at least twice before proceeding for erasing right? But I do agree it's a horrible position to keep.

Calling it ‘eject’ is also a choice. Does anyone still expect a tray to open or a cassette to pop out? Simply creating a bit more space between list items will help imho.
I mean if they weren't next to each other .. it would have looked really weird ... Also erase always asks for a pop up confirmation..
The “…” means it’ll pop up a dialog though (hopefully “are you sure?”). It’s certainly A Choice

For six years I pressed the right thumb wheel to ask my Model 3 to play HAEVN. Now that same action tells it to drive itself.

It reminds me of the Power Mac 6100 that had the power button in the same general area as a PC’s floppy drive eject button. It wasn’t a big deal if you only used Macs and never used a floppy eject button, but if you switched between Macs and PCs regularly, it was an awful design choice.

Except that I'd assume the ellipsis indicates a menu is opened so there is a layer of security against erasure.

This is a windows user's favorite thing to post according to every reddit thread ever. "Erase Disk..." opens open options to erase; it doesn't just outright erase the disk.

These little UI problems are relatively minor most of the time. An annoyance. For me...it's a serious problem. Right now I've been getting random twitches in my right arm...including random clicks of my mouse. Crap UI like this is a minefield for me right now. MRI later this month.
After 34 years as an IT professional, it's 2nd nature to be cautious when ejecting disks, because for YEARS "Format" and "Eject" have been right next to each other in Windows. I know... "Format" isn't immediate, but still... It's dumb menu placement.

Is there really any need to eject drives these days? I’ve never had an issue. Also, just drag the drive icon to your trash to eject

Eras does prompt first iirc but still, I would prefer it to be lower in the menu. Also I usually drag and drop to trash to eject anyway.

I always thought this about “pin tweet” and “delete tweet” being right next to each other. So easy to either delete your best work or promote your worst work 😬

This is kind of like “Not interested” and “Don’t recommend channel” on the YouTube Apple TV app… They’re right beside each other. I accidentally hit “Don’t recommend channel” all the time, and there’s no way to undo it. That channel is just gone forever! 🤣
