I know I'm supposed to be "the strong one" when it comes to health stuff. "Emily's used to this. She'll be fine. I'm not even worried. I'll see her another time." But can I have a minute to be scared? I'm not scared of surgery, for the most part. I'm really scared of recovery. I know I've done it before, I should be used to it, right? Wrong. I never get used to it. I'm afraid of being alone all day, again. Waiting for someone to come, so I can eat or go to the bathroom. I'm scared of the pain and exhaustion, on top of my regular pain and exhaustion. I'm afraid of what the pain meds do to my system, cause I can't have ibuprofen or paracetamol. But mostly I'm afraid that I won't get back up this time. That my body will give out cause I'm older, and my disability is worse. I'm afraid I'll be trapped in this house, in this bed, in this body, even more than I am, now. This is my reality. What's yours?
