Tracking and Logging Policy Mojeek doesn't implement any kind of specific user tracking, whether that be at the time of visit or subsequently via standard logs, which Mojeek does keep indefinitely. These logs contain the time of visit, page requested, possibly referral data, and located in a separate log browser information. IP addresses are not recorded, instead the IP address is replaced with a simple two letter code indicating the visitors country of origin. By doing this, Mojeek removes any possibility of tracking or identifying any particular user. We use a URL parameter to monitor if a campaign landing page visit results in a Mojeek search request. This parameter is visible in the URL and is not used after the first search.

Should Apple add a search engine choice screen to the iPhone setup process? Apple’s agreement with Google doesn’t allow for that, Apple’s Eddy Cue said in court. And Cue said he doesn’t want to do it anyway: “we try to get people up and running as fast as possible.” But the DOJ is showing exhibits about all the “Ask App Not To Track” screens you see, and the Appearance settings in setup, and more. Their question is: for something as important as search, shouldn’t you let people choose for themselves? Cue, again, says no. “We pick the best one and let users easily change it,” is his approach. And he says that’s Apple doing right by customers.
Judge Alsup’s opinion in Bartz v. Anthropic is the first judicial treatment of how copyright law applies to specifically to LLM training. It draws a sharp legal distinction between how content is acquired and what it is ultimately used for — treating acquisition and training as separate “uses” under the fair use doctrine. The upshot of the opinion is that even where a downstream use like LLM training may be transformative and lawful, certain methods of acquiring copyrighted training data may still be unlawful. My take is that Anthropic’s multi-billion dollar loss in Bartz v. Anthropic is really a win for AI. The ruling provides a clear path forward for AI companies, recognizing that training on copyrighted works can qualify as a fair use when those works are lawfully acquired and when there is no evidence of infringing outputs.
