Nobody really talks about this but, once you start healing past traumas and your body comes out of "fight or flight" mode your body will crave a lot of rest And, silence. Your body finally starts to feel safe in the peace + quiet. The calm. You aren't lazy your body is just catching up on all the years it didn't have this stillness. You. Deserve. This.

We are the ones singing songs that sing tomorrows into being. We are the ones stirring colors, drawing lights, swirling stars into beauty and maybes and what ifs. We are the ones building monuments to moments and moments into forevers. We are the ones unbounded by the way things have always been. We are the ones looking beyond the beyonds and into infinities. We are the ones who see the unseen, all those ignored by so many. We are the ones who cannot forget though we ourselves are forgotten. We are the ones carving shadows into spaces, spaces not to be feared, but explored and discovered. We are the ones caught in wonder. We are the ones dreaming dreams.
If hope is the thing with feathers then grief is made of barbed quills. It buries itself in your heart and you cannot pull it away. The more that you pull, the more that it tears, and the deeper it wends and it wounds. No, you must wait as it works its way through. You may never find yourself on the other side, yet as it moves you will learn to heal. Some wounds are never truly gone. We learn to live through them as they live through us to all of the life still to come.

I hope this poem finds you. I hope it finds you right where you are, just as you are, and it sees you and it smiles a smile so bright and so big and so warm it reaches out and fills you with light from head to toe and you cannot help but smile back even if only the tiniest bit. I hope it finds you and reminds you wherever you are, whatever you’re going through, you are not alone, that dark as it may get there is always light, and you can always try again. I hope it finds you and it tells you over and over and over again how beautiful you are and even if you can’t feel it, you are loved.

Kindness is not defined by what another wants. Sometimes they are in alignment, yes. But there are those who will try not only to take advantage of your kindness, but to weaponize it, to use it against you, and to shame you when you are not giving in to what they want. We each have a responsibility to be kind to ourselves just the same. And sometimes the kindest word is no.
