Tale of crash-outs at work, by Reddit User Kooky-Dig6531 I overheard a coworker in my department cussing into his work phone. This was after hours for most of the company. I managed to get him calmed down when someone from department upstairs showed up and started shouting things at my coworker who shouted things back. I finally managed to get these two imbeciles calmed down when someone sends an email to a distro list that goes to my team. It said “I don’t think it’s right that y’all are fucking with my team.” That’s how it started. It was a very long email. What he didn’t know is that this distro went to a LOT of people. Most of the managers and directors in our area of focus. Every VP in the company, and the owners (of a private company worth billions). I replied to the distro list explaining that there was conflict, that everyone was passionate about their job and that I’d never fault anyone for standing up for their team. My boss called me, I stepped outside and explained the situation. He called me a few hours later to say “well, [the two employees who threatened each other] are getting written up, but your email saved their jobs. And [the one who wrote the accusatory email) is only getting an unofficial warning. You handled it fine.” The next day I was asked to attend the meeting to try to smooth things over and all three started fighting in the meeting with HR and our mutual management. It started with childish muttering, then insults, then threats, then the guy on my team jumped/slid across the table at one of the others and the other two started punching him. All three got fired. The original argument was over a world of Warcraft guild collapse the night before.
