There is no right or wrong way to grieve; let your anger, your sadness, your numbness flow and feel it all. Whether you're frozen in fear, drowning in tears, boiling in anger, or bursting with a powerful mix you can't even describe - your emotions are valid. They deserve to be felt and they deserve to be named. They are your allies, no matter how awful, impossible, unbearable it might feel in the moment: they are here to communicate something. They might say that whatever is happening in the world does not align with your values, sense of justice, your integrity. But first and foremost, it's essential to allow them to happen - suppressing your emotions leads to worse outcomes over time. Grief never goes away, but eventually it will transform into something else, like sadness - a constant reminder of what we were attached to, and lost. There is no right or wrong timeline here either - your journey might take one day or a lifetime. There's no reason to feel wrong if your resilience pushes you back on track quickly, or if your sensitivity keeps a grip on you for much longer - you are valid, and they are both beautiful and strong in their own way, as is your journey and every coping strategy in between. I am thinking of each and every person affected by this difficult time and there is endless space in my heart for you. Please, remember to breathe. Once you process the situation, once your nervous system kicks back into parasympathetic mode, once the rawness of emotion dulls out a bit, it will be time for positive action, now more than ever. But before that happens, I am sending you all my strength, my love, my thoughts, my support - please, feel your feelings! I believe in each and every one of you!
