Not a hot take at all. Been common knowledge since they raced Dangerous Liaisons thru production to beat Valmont into theaters.
I see them as two very different films. Valmont was a great costume romp. Dangerous was an intimate study in evil. BTW, I was once in a sword fight with the music instructor from the film.
