Largish water bird roughly the size of a slim goose sitting on a mangrove branch. It has dark back and grey plumage on its back, wings and back of head and neck, and creamy white feathers on its chest and front of long swan-like neck, with a very white stripe leading back from its eye. It has a yellow eye visible and a long, sharp yellow beak, used for stabbing fish, beneath there are sturdy pinky yellow legs and buff yellow webbed feet. Behind, you can see the Cooks River.
