Here's the irony: We abandoned BDUF because waterfall was too rigid. Then Agile swung us too far the other way: teams heard "responding to change over following a plan" and translated it to "don't plan at all." The pendulum went from BDUF paralysis to "we'll figure it out as we go" chaos.
