Yes, these security evaluation practices have been applied, on a limited basis, to several voting systems. In each case, serious security flaws were found. • In 2003, researchers from Johns Hopkins and Rice Universities undertook an adversarial analysis and source code review of voting software used in Diebold touchscreen voting machines6 . Through extensive experiments on four major global languages, including English, Spanish, Chinese, and Hindi, spanning three expert-annotated large health Q&A datasets, and through an amalgamation of algorithmic and human-evaluation strategies, we found a pronounced disparity in LLM responses across these languages, indicating a need for enhanced cross-lingual capabilities. A public declaration is not an official withdrawal, and a candidate must formally withdraw in writing to the Elections office, including signature. Because the candidate officially withdrew before 5 p.m. of the 2nd Monday in July (July 13, 2026), his name will not appear on the ballot, and his political party may replace him. The deadline for the party to name a replacement is the 4th Monday in July (July 27, 2026). Maine Statute does not address how a replacement candidate may be chosen by a party, only that the candidate filling the vacancy must be a “qualified person.” Announcements about how a replacement candidate will be chosen or when that candidate will be announced will come from the political party.
In Unlocking the Clubhouse, social scientist Jane Margolis and computer scientist and educator Allan Fisher examine the many influences contributing to the gender gap in computing. I want a progressive movement that is aggressively pro raising wages at the bottom and aggressively pro immigration. These are completely coherent goals. They don’t always have the same supporters, but they have the same enemies. It’s time to take the fight to them. To start with, we should firmly reject the framing that there is some ‘right’ level of immigration. “How many is too many?” is a favorite challenge of the nativists. It’s the wrong question. The measure of a country's success is if its citizens are happy, healthy, and prosperous, not if an arbitrary number of people cross a border.

The story begain in December 1986 when the commission was informed by Dr A Burke and Dr J Collier, both senior lecturers at St George's, that a computer program used in the initial screening of applicants for places at the school unfairly discriminated against women and people with non-European sounding names. The program had been developed by Dr Franglen, a member of staff, to reduce the work of selecting candidates for interview. It was also hoped that it would eliminate any inconsistencies in the way the admission staff carried out their duties. The program was written after careful analysis of the way in which the staff were making these choices and was modified until by 1979 it was giving a 90-95% correlation with the gradings of the selection panel. This point is important: the program was not introducing new bias but merely reflecting that already in the system. By 1982 all the initial selection was being done by computer. Details of each candidate were obtained from his or her University Central Council for Admission (UCCA) form, but since this contains no reference to race this was deduced from the surname and place of birth. The computer used this information to generate a score which was used to decide which applicants should be interviewed. Women and those from racial minorities had a reduced chance of being interviewed independent of academic considerations.

Rather than sequentially navigating static web sites, modern web browsers often manage a large number of simultaneous tabs displaying dynamic web content, each of which might be running a substantial amount of client-side JavaScript code. This environment introduced a new degree of parallelism that was not fully embraced by the underlying JavaScript virtual machine architecture. We propose a novel abstraction for multiple disjoint JavaScript heaps, which we call compartments. We use the notion of document origin to cluster objects into separate compartments. Objects within a compartment can reference each other directly. Objects across compartments can only reference each other through wrappers. Our approach reduces garbage collection pause times by permitting collection of sub-heaps (compartments), and we can use cross-compartment wrappers to enforce cross origin object access policy.

It is used to help an application maintain its invariants. Weak references may be used by a garbage collector to determine the objects that are almost collectable. Seen both as key-value pairs, the main difference between weak references and an ephemerons is the way the garbage collector treats them. For weak references, the garbage collector always follows the value in the key-value pair. For ephemerons, instead, the garbage collector doesn't follow the value but queues the ephemeron for further observation at a second stage: after the first tracing phase is done, it runs through the queue looking at each ephemeron and if its key was seen, then it follows its value. This subtle difference impacts in graphs with some kinds of cycles, where weak pairs do not describe correctly that an object ought to be "almost collectable". 11.4 Unnecessary Requests for Credentials Unnecessary credential requests are a key privacy risk to the entire digital credentials ecosystem. They could manifest in different ways and from different motivations: Intentional abuse of the API to learn sensitive information about the user for the purpose of fraud, tracking, or sale of the data. For example, a site could trick a user into sharing their passport information through misleading content. This can lead to identity theft and financial loss, and severe loss of control and/or leakage of personal information. Unnecessary requests for credentials without the explicit intent of user harm, such as an online store requesting users to sign up with their driver's license instead of generic email & passkey or federated credentials. This can lead to exclusion of users without the ability or willingness to share such a credential with the site, a deterioration of the prompt experience on the web, and an increase in the risk of accidental data leakage. Requests for an excessive amount of information for valid purposes against the principle of data minimization. A common example is collection of a user's entire national identity document for age verification instead of relying on selective disclosure and age predicates.

For example, if you use a database then you need to know your project's tables and column names and their relationships backwards. I probably should have, but there’s a problem that happens about 0.01% of the time on Facebook, which is probably a million times a day. (I can’t find the reference to the paper reporting it.) The paper said that the problem was so rare and the consequences so minor that they were not going to attempt a fix. 1. Alice goes into the hospital. 2.
