The Minnesota State Guard, previously known as the Minnesota Defense Force, is the currently inactive state defense force of the state of Minnesota. The State Guard was organized with the purpose of replacing the Minnesota National Guard in protecting the state of Minnesota, **while the National Guard was federalized and deployed** during World War II. The State Guard is authorized under Minnesota law and is recognized as a component of the organized militia of Minnesota, along with the Minnesota National Guard.

Hidden identities combined with the apparently unlawful tactics makes it difficult for community members to know what agency the agents represent, which in turn erodes hard-earned community trust being rebuilt by local law enforcement day by day— particularly where the tactics being used by DHS agents are at odds with the carefully developed, trained, and enforced local policies designed to increase that trust. The impact is not unnoticed. After the fatal January 7 shooting a crowd in Minneapolis could be heard chanting, “M-P-D, K-K-K, I-C-E, THEY’RE ALL THE SAME!”52

Ultimately, nearly ninety-five MPD officers responded to the scene on January 7 to deal with the aftermath of the fatal shooting, and while they were doing so, they were not responding to 911 calls, investigating reports of crimes, or fulfilling other law enforcement obligations for the benefit of the communities that MPD serves.

MPD has observed a marked increase in the utilization of health and wellness resources by officers, with officers accessing contracted therapeutic services at higher-than-normal rates and reporting 35 heightened hypervigilance and fear. For officers present during the 2020 unrest, the incident has triggered traumatic memories as the officers resume operational duties amid concerns of potential instability. Officers who joined the department after 2020 report similar emotional impacts, having experienced prior unrest as community members. While comprehensive data is not yet available, there is a legitimate concern that the cumulative psychological impact of responding to Operation Metro Surge may contribute to increased attrition from the department, as officers confront the destabilizing effects of actions by Defendants on the community they are sworn to protect.

First Post: Another thing in general I’ve been thinking about. If I’m trying to make a BLT and they say a BL sandwich is good enough or that they don’t like tomatoes, I can take a taste said sandwich and if it’s good it’s good and maybe even better. And if so great. But sometimes a good sandwich is still not the BLT I am wanting to go for. And so I feel I just have to let them tell me to make BL or if I tell them I intend it to be a BLT, they then say but the T isn’t working. I then say I am aware now and would like to know how they may feel I can fix the T. But that situation can feel like they now think I was not accepting of their feedback. It’s a weird thing… I guess it’s probably better to just take the Tless BL thoughts and if it doesn’t address what I want just move on?
For now, there’s decent money in it for slop merchants. On Facebook, spammers using images of “AI-deformed women breastfeeding” and peculiar depictions of “Shrimp Jesus” have managed to drive users to click on links to junk websites and monetize the web traffic. On TikTok, as The Washington Post has reported, some creators are making $5,000 a month using AI tools to write scripts and animate extremely dumb viral videos where old men talk about soiling themselves.
