Current Inefficiencies: Duplication of Capabilities: Many EU countries maintain similar military capabilities, leading to redundant investments in equipment, research, and development. This results in a fragmented defense industrial base, with overlapping production lines and a lack of economies of scale.   Lack of Interoperability: Different national standards and procurement practices hinder interoperability between EU armed forces.   This makes it difficult to conduct joint operations and reduces the effectiveness of combined military forces.   Inefficient Procurement: Individual countries often negotiate small-scale procurement contracts, which can be more expensive than large-scale joint procurement. This also limits the ability to leverage bargaining power and secure the best possible prices. Fragmented Research and Development: National defense research and development efforts can be duplicative and inefficient. Greater coordination and collaboration could lead to more efficient use of resources and faster development of advanced technologies.
