The Reflective Whole We live within a gathered whole, A world of mirrored lives and roles— A web of countless, shared connections, Where each life moves in soft reflection. From root to river, leaf to wing, Each being shapes what others bring. In this vast mesh of earth and sea, Our minds awoke, to change and see. Born from this world, we came to be, A spark of thought, wild and free— A brief bright flame, a sudden glow, In nature’s boundless ebb and flow. Yet as we reach to mold and bend, To harvest more, to strain and spend, We barely see the threads we fray, Or how the ground shifts day by day. For this great web won’t cease or break, It moves, adapts, in silent wake— And as it changes, we remain, Blind to the slow, encroaching strain. The air grows thin, the soil fades dry, The storms grow fierce, the waters high. But woven close, this world holds on, Shifting in ways we dwell upon. And so, the earth will hum along, Its rhythms deep, its pulse still strong. The web adapts, adjusts, renews, Unmoved by what we stand to lose. Until one day, we find we’re cast In lands where we no longer last— A world transformed, yet much the same, Where what we were fades like a name. For we were but reflections cast, A spark that burned, then flickered past. While nature’s threads, though stretched and worn, Keep weaving life, in endless form.
