In 1987 Apple launched the Apple IIe with the new Platinum language design. Along this model they introduced a low budget entry computer, the Apple IIe Datasette.
In 1997 Apple and Sony approached each other on the idea to make mobile Playstation games for the Newton. From this idea this Gaming MessagePad codenamed “hammerhead” prototype was born.
During prototyping the Macintosh there was a lot of experimentation with screen sizes and proportions. This is a rare example of a 128k with a circular screen.
In 1985, Apple tried to make a low budget Macintosh and introduced the Macintosh Mini. It could be paired with the existing Apple Monitor IIc like in this photo.
In late 1998, trying to lure schools on a less expensive Mac than the “Molar Mac”, Apple introduce this headless Power Macintosh G3 with a moderate success. You can see it now as the father of the Mac mini.

The “Macintosh Classic C” - C for Cinematic - was aimed for a better movie viewing experience.
In 1996 Canon, Kodak and Apple collaborate on this EOS DCS 1, 6 MP Camera. It only got to prototype stages. The difference from de original DCS 1 were the embedded Newton 2000 and the SCSI port.

In 2002 Apple approached Nintendo with this prototype trying to make the iPod more attractive with the ability to play games, ditching the scroll wheel with game controllers. Nintendo refused.
The Siri Companion Tag (2021) is Apple trying to push Siri with some strange integration ideas.
The SiriBook prototype (2017), with its 19:5 screen, is the pinnacle of Apple getting rid of buttons era.
The Newton Butterfly (1999) This prototype shows the first attemp form apple for using the click wheel as a input device, as a response of all the stylus pen lost.
The Newton QuickTake Introduced in 1995, it was the first attemp from apple to integrate a camera to a portable handheld device.
The Tape Machine SE and SE Display, two complement modules for the Macintosh SE.
