This is a basic principle of respect. Machine translations are still acceptable as long as the original content was written by a human.

Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2026 Format: Kindle Verified Purchase A fantastical journey that has fun, whimsy, intrigue, action, adventure, murder and properly, yet hilariously, timed and placed adult language. Easy to follow, has a solid mix of fantasy and reality, medieval and current era. It has just enough magic usage without being overbearing or drowning out the rest of the story. Looking forward to more of the follow up to Bluebell and Ordan. It has made me laugh more times and for longer than I was expecting. There is a few twists in it that I would definitely loved to see finished, in time, which in turn would allow the ability to expand on the past that is mentioned throughout. Overall quite good.

I kinda want Tifa's ultimate move or finisher or whatever to be calling in everyone else from the team. They all land a hit, and then Aerith drops from the sky and impales them with Sephiroth's sword and, ideally, his theme song in the background. Just kill'em with irony.
Clothes: Occasionally deigns to wear the requisite pointy hat. Prefers dresses in dark grays and blues, and other muted tones. Said dresses tend to have names like “The Pocketmaster” or “The Serviceable Smock” according to the signs in the shops. They’re thick, but generally breathable, and have many pockets for the benefit of “working women in all industries, and practical men possessed of grand self confidence.”

Has anyone ever tried to contact customer service because they wanted an imaginary being named “Phineas” to regurgitate the exact text of the FAQ page that didn’t solve the problem in the first place? Why does Phineas have character art if he doesn’t even know your company’s phone number?

The writing quality is great, there's clearly been a ton of thought put into both individual chapters, and the story as a whole bridging it together into a reasonable sized and complete story arc with both character development and exciting story beats.

I don't even know what to call my writing style. I've set up some jokes chapters in advance. I've written scenes where goddamn it, I made myself tear up. I've written things I thought were goddamned clever... And I made a side character, a young singer, a star on the rise, who is based on the wide-eyed, endangered-as-a-dodo starlet from every Noir story who's about to get her big break. She also carries a locket everywhere she goes, with a picture of her sweetheart back home, which she shows to everyone. I named her Fredje, after a tipsy evening when I was thinking about the concept of "fridging." And I decided to have my sidekick character try to keep her alive without any help from the Hero.

Sus Squirrel-shaped Raccoon: More working ideas: Basic sales happen in the background. That's the idle part. While that happens, story-based events can pop up. Meeting various Heroes/Companions. Their stories change based on what specific items you stock and sell to them. Setbacks. Disasters. You may need to rebuild parts of your business which will be made more or less easy by what sort of monster/magical disaster insurance you have. Perhaps a Divine element. Mercanta, goddess of merchants and traders, tends to favor those who take risks, but a risk is still a risk.

Ordan could practically see the shock on the man’s face in his mind. Addressing the lead artist, he said, “I’ve been reading Haltagin’s *Where The Wind Meets The Heavens,* and, I don’t know. Maybe I’m just not getting it, but it seems vastly inferior to his earlier work.” The man with the shiv-pen paused, scowling at Ordan. But his voice was carefully calm as he began to say, “Well, art is subjective and at that point in Haltagin’s life, he…” Ordan interrupted him. “It’s just… *it doesn’t even rhyme.*” In the shocked silence that followed, you could have heard a mouse drop a pin. In the alley to what was now Ordan’s right, the poorly-disguised soldiers of an unknown lord took a step back. Behind him, Atrode whispered, “Oh. Fuck.” The man in front of Ordan probably had a well-crafted war cry that had been drafted, re-drafted, and workshopped with his guildmates. All that came out was a scream of rage, and the artists charged straight at Ordan.

To be fair, my major issue with S6 is that the time travel plot is based on (well, besides teenage angst) a causal loop. Except causal loops aren't a thing that happens in universes that are based on string theory/multiple timelines. Lucifer, being loosely based on a Neil Gaiman (that didn't age well) comic, is part of the DC Universe which famously has many timelines. TV Lucifer even had a cameo in a promo for DC's Legends of Tomorrow, a show all about hopping between timelines. So it's like, pick a goddamned theory of time! Also, parents who are like, "You'll understand later." when the kid is already a teen and the topic is "Why did my nearly all-powerful dad abandon me" (see also the first five seasons), KINDA SUCK. The whole plot is what annoys me, because it wouldn't have happened if everyone involved, including the writers, was even marginally less dumb. And don't get me started on Season 4 Chloe going to the Catholic Church for info on Lucifer. I mean, sure, go to Kiddy Diddler Central. An organization where almost all of the entire leadership structure is guaranteed a spot in hell is going to have a TOTALLY UNBIASED VIEW OF THE DEVIL. Okay, rant over.

Nothing remains of your immediate future but smoke and blood, if you walk this path.” Grinning evilly, he said, “Trust me, no ale lies beyond the smoke and no treasure shines in the blood. You don’t want this.”

Pretty much the same word counter OBS scene as in the quoted post, but with the items listed above added. The waveform visualizer is in the upper right, and shows up as stepped gray bars that spike down from the top of the screen. The logomark takes up some of the background. I have also added my Twitch goals to the screen, in the lower left corner.
The video shows my squirrel Vtuber model in the lower right corner. Around the middle, there is text that says "Full word count:" and "Current chapter:" with the corresponding numbers updating as I type. The design is very basic for now, just white text on a gray background.
Inasmuch as tech is even aware of the existence of other professional cultures and groupings with their own institutional and cultural knowledge, the first instinct is to think that they're defective and try to make them more like the tech world: this had led to some truly stupid situations occurring.

## Prologue - The inordinately high price of the five-fingered discount 11,428 years BP (Before Plot) The Halflings of The Accident were not a thieving race, because there’s no such thing. That would be silly. They were no more or less likely than a human being, for example, to hold rather fluid views on the concept of property. Young Urgo Lightfoot, as he came to be known, was both a Halfling and a thief. And, in just a few moments, he was about to ruin things for the rest of his kind. The Halflings, that is. Thieves, generally speaking, would be spared the consequences of Urgo’s actions, which just goes to show that life isn’t fair. And sometimes, life has no sense of drama, either. The Cursed Night should have been more dramatic, and indeed would have been if the author had his way. But it was a quiet night, with a clear sky, and only a sliver of moon to mark the occasion. The weather was slightly muggy, if that helps.
