Inside front cover of NJC Volume 50, Number 29. The featured article is by Dhrubajyoti Gogoi, Akalesh Kumar Verma, Diganta Sarma, and coauthors and is entitled "A sustainable bio-based catalytic system for the synthesis of [1,2,4]-triazoloquinazolinones as promising anticancer agents." Prior, Carl Redshaw et al and is entitled, "Synthesis, structure and catalytic capability of two yttrium diphenylglycinate complexes." The outside back cover of NJC Volume 50 Number 22. The featured article is by Karuppasamy Sundaravel and coauthors and is entitled, "Nickel(ii)–flavonolate complexes of tetradentate 4N donor ligands as enzyme–substrate models of quercetin-2,4-dioxygenase: the effect of ligand steric and electronic properties on dioxygenolysis." The artwork shows a nickel(ii)–flavonolate complex participating in dioxygen activation to produce an ester bound product. The descriptive text reads: Four new nickel(II)–flavonolate complexes bearing sterically and electronically tuned tetradentate 4N donor ligands were synthesized as biomimetic models of quercetin 2,4-dioxygenase. Structural, electrochemical and kinetic investigations reveal that ligand substitution strongly influences dioxygenolysis reactivity. Complex 1 with unsubstituted pyridyl complex exhibits enhanced 􀁓-back donation, lower flavonolate oxidation potential and superior oxidative cleavage activity toward dioxygen. Radical trapping experiments indirectly support the formation of flavonoxyl and superoxo intermediates during the reaction, providing mechanistic insight into nickel-mediated dioxygen activation and flavonol ring cleavage.

Featured article is by Shyamal Kumar Chattopadhyay and coauthors and is entitled, "Solid-state fluorescence sensing of amine vapours by an anthracene-based Zn(ii) complex, its phosphatase activity and theoretical calculations." Cover art shows a ball-and-stick representation of an anthracene-based zinc complex. To the left, the phosphatase-like activity of the complex is demonstrated by a phosphate group producing p-nitrophenol. NJC Volume 50, Number 22. Featured article is by Tao Yin, Riyang Shu et al and is entitled "A dual-activator strategy to facilely tune the pore structure of lignin-based porous carbon for high performance supercapacitors." Cover art features plant-based bio-matter being broken down and formed into a porous structure that facilitates the transport of anions and cations. This porous structure is shown to be a magnification of a section of a capacitor that is powering a light bulb.
The outside front cover of NJC Volume 50, Number 21. Featured article is by Aasif Hassan Sheikh and coauthors and is titled, "Chemistry of water-soluble carbon nanotubes and carbon quantum dots with group IB metal-dithiolenes: structural and photophysical properties." The artwork shows a swirl galaxy, with the structure of a carbon nanotube and carbon quantum dots overlaid. These are functionalized with gold dithiolene complexes.
Inside front cover of NJC Volume 50, Number 20. Featured article is by Sivakumar Shanmugam and coauthors and is titled "Stereoselective one-pot synthesis of spiro-indenoquinoxaline–pyrrolidine hybrids: structural elucidation and biological evaluation." Featured article is Degradation of perfluorooctanoic acid using zero-valent iron coated with carboxymethyl-ÎČ-cyclodextrin polymer, by Miroslav ČernĂ­k, Mietek Jaroniec, StanisƂaw WacƂawek et al.
