If all else fails - follow the money ... Trump kidnapped Maduro from Venezuela and declared that the Venezuelan oilfields were open for business for US Oil companies ... However, the Oil company Barons told Trump - thanks, but no thanks - because the price of oil was too low to support the re-opening of the Venezuelan oilfields and the rebuild of the logistical infrastructure to get the oil out of the country.
But - just a couple of weeks later, Trump green-lights support of Netanyahu's attack on Iran - which everyone knows will affect the Strait of Hormuz - and the oil price doubles, and the Oil Barons are suddenly bathed in record profits. Suddenly, it's easy to fund the redevelopment of the Venezuelan oil fields.
Trump's 'Americas' becomes a major source of oil - under an arrangement that puts money from the oil sales into a 'fund' kept in Dubai to be divided between Venezuela and the US Government. Licenses to exploit the oilfields and rebuild the infrastructure have been issued by Washington (and who knows what Trump gets from that?).
The longer the Iran 'troubles' exist (i.e. the Straight of Hormuz is closed), the more profit is made by US Oil and infrastructure companies.

We are given conflicting excuses as to why this war took place, so that [moral/independent] journalists are busy unpicking why we are told e.g. that the Iranian nuclear program is 'obliterated' one month, and then we are told that this is all about stopping Iran getting a nuclear weapon next month. While we unpick what Trump and his minions say, we are missing the basics, which is Trump pulling in funding from the Oil Giants (drill baby drill!).
