I think it's also cultural. I'm French, and I'm fairly appalled at how complacent Americans are compared to my compatriots from France. As a people, we don't take bullshit that easily.

I can see that. I once rounded a corner in Paris (near the sorbonne) and wandered into a small riot. I think to do with the then war in Iraq but not certain
