All of the merch currently available for my novella, Blood Sisters, drawn by myself. It includes stickers of Pavot/Morgan, Lys, and Ammy the Cat. “Thank you, Madame. I won’t let you down.”

“Of course you won’t. You know what will happen otherwise, my dear,” she said, gently grasping my throat, then turning it to the side to reveal my jugular. The tips of her fangs caressed me, as if she were giving me the touch of a lover instead of threatening me. I prayed she wasn’t going to suddenly lose control and ruin everything.

“I will admit that I am rather impatient to taste you,” she said, her voice growing breathy. “But such a precious girl like you deserves to be savored, don’t you think?”

I looked up at a tattered poster of my favorite band I bought when I was a teenager and smiled. Music was a gift that always guided me through the harshest of times. The day I started gathering my things to move was no different. I had every important song from my past blasting from my tiny stereo as I meticulously went through the mess that was my room. A rock song here, a pop song there, anything relatable that I could sing and dance along to with carefree ease. And of course the most precious item in my room was my guitar. It was old, difficult to keep in tune, and desperate for repairs, but it was my baby. Back when I had free time when I was younger, I'd bang out songs left and right on it. Some of them were absolute teen angst drivel, but some of them I still played from time to time, the cathartic feelings of bringing them back into the world helping me hold on for just another grueling day.

I sat at the salon chair and peered at the gothic style mirror in front of me. Yep, there I was, green eyes, chubby cheeks, double chin, light skin, and a neutral expression on my face. I hadn’t realized that I let my hair get that bad; those were the consequences of not brushing enough and throwing the mess back into a perpetual ponytail. But my grandmother took pride in my long, chestnut hair, always mentioning how beautiful it was. I never had the heart to cut it or dye it; it felt like I would be dishonoring her if I did. Of course, now she was gone. I could dye it an unnatural color, cut a bunch off—

"So, you've got quite a lot of hair to work with! But uh, not to be rude, you must have a difficult time maintaining it. I know I definitely did back when I used to identify as female."

I sighed. "It truly is a pain."

"Here, take a look at this."

I pushed the curtain aside to reveal the woman in the picture with the purple hair snoozing away in bed. She looked beautiful in the photo, of course, but seeing her in person like this, with her eyes closed and her face soft in slumber, she almost seemed like a goddess. It certainly didn't help that I very much had A Thing for older women. Although, Jasmin didn't mention quite how old she was. She could be close to her original age, or she could be centuries old!

I looked down to see an adorable cat curled at her feet who was…purple? Was it some kind of special vampire cat who could have unnatural coat colors? What else would I discover about this bizarre wor-

I felt a hand grip my arm tightly.

"My word, are you in the habit of greeting strangers in their bedrooms? Or is it just me?"
