Change the conversation from "lines of code produced" to "does what we're building actually matter to anyone?" We supposedly are producing a lot more code (not actually true – we've looked at the data every which way, but everyone THINKS this is true), but nothing has observably changed about the overall business. This is causing some serious crises of confidence in engineering leaders, because it is shining a light on the reality that more 'features' does not mean more money, and that actually they are not necessary for growth.

One thing to note: there is a trend with O’Sullivan’s numbers over the past three years as she adds to her 14,000+ NWSL minutes. Her defensive contributions, while still good, have begun to drop off the past two years. Age comes for us all, and while the Courage got a taste of what playing without their captain might be like this year, the Courage will at some point soon need to plan for that for real.

Sources said that a High Impact Player (HIP) must meet some of a handful of requirements from a list of both sporting and commercial benchmarks to be eligible for the funds. Players' commercial profiles were also discussed among the board, sources confirmed, further indicating the profile of players being targeted by these new funds. As a result, Large Language Models seem like magic. When you see everything as an outcome — an outcome you may or may not understand, and definitely don’t understand the process behind, let alone care about — you kind of already see your workers as LLMs.

Exactly. For decades there has been a very large money spigot open to those who are willing to sow hatred, bigotry, inequality, and intolerance. Some of those ideas, in some places, are presented cleverly or prettied up a bit, but much of it is plainly fascist or fascism-friendly. And it can be quite lucrative to be in that business. Not so much being a plain ol' reporter or critic, stating facts and making necessary arguments without fear or favor.
