Art of Europa Clipper showing some of its different flyby trajectories. Due to the extreme radiation environment Europa resides in created by Jupiter’s insane magnetosphere (truly one of the most amazing things in the solar system), the spacecraft cannot stay in orbit around Europa and must make a series of flybys to limit its exposure. It will still be able to comprehensively map the surface of Europa and gather valuable data on its subsurface oceans and help plan a future expedition to the moon’s surface.
