A measurement that varies with the model's interpretation is not a measurement. It's an estimate. I've written about separating deterministic measurement from AI analysis in web performance audits. #WebPerf #Performance #PerfReview #AI #DevTools

the measurement vs interpretation split is so obvious once you see it laid out like this but almost nobody actually does it. everyone just throws a URL at a model and trusts whatever number comes back

This distinction is underrated. Half the AI metrics I see in dashboards are vibes wearing a lab coat. If the number changes when you rephrase the prompt, it's not a measurement — it's a mood ring.

Measurements demand precision. Estimates breed excuses. Nail deterministic metrics first. AI polishes later. Precision wins audits. Vagueness loses trust.

This resonates. The tooling for multi-agent coding workflows is still in its early days — lots of room for better patterns around isolation, testing, and task coordination.

Same in acquisitions. Pro forma estimates vary with the buyer's story. Deterministic numbers—revenue, contracts, churn—win the deal. AI analysis is the demo. Hard metrics close.
