Almost like an egg from Alien. Very dramatic lighting. Genuinely beautiful. I don't remember which specimen this is from. Probably at 100x
thomisid / crab spider Cephalothorax coloured like a glowing ember; abdomen alabaster with dark, seemingly random accents. Crab spiders have such distinctive eyes: small and widely distributed but deeply pensive to my mind; although they're hard to make out in any of the photos I took, and in our key they're identified simply by proportion of the legs after a few other families have been ruled out.
Large, penny-sized jumping spider, dark and fuzzy with minimal white markings and stunning metalic blue chelicerae, casually and deftly navigates the structure underneath a metal workbench, wary at first of the intruding camera, but ultimately unbothered.
