I almost ran over a Canadian? goose on SE Blaine St near NE 70th Ave tonight around 6:00 pm. I got out of the car and tried to shoo it up to the sidewalk but it didn't move, so I picked it up and moved it and it was still just standing there, so I brought it home to see if it might just be in shock and hoping to release it in the morning, but sadly it didn't make it. 😕 Not sure if it was injured or sick so was very cautious about handling and washing afterwards. Anyone else know much about these guys or know of any special procedures I need to follow to respectfully dispose of the carcass? Not sure how worried I should be about bird flu etc. RIP Goose. 😢
Any waterfowl experts on here? I discovered him last night in the ground level birdbath. He stood there all night and just now managed to get himself out. Pretty sure he’s sick. He lets me get right up to him with no fear and no attempt to fly away. Audubon Society is not allowed to accept him, as he falls under ODFW. jurisdiction. I’m waiting for a callback from them.
