Different roles, different backgrounds, cultures, countries, identities, paths. Linear careers and squiggly ones. Early career and experienced. Minority voices. Unusual roles and common ones.
Over at @oceanopportunities.org, I'm exploring building short marine career profiles to showcase the breadth of roles AND people in them.
Women and girls are increasingly encouraged into marine STEM, but they're not always shown how many different ways there are to work in this space, shape it, or lead within it. One gap I see repeatedly: career visibility - and the visibility of women actually in those careers.
The ocean draws people in through curiosity. The tides, animals, maps, storms, all those questions without neat answers... I should know - I'm one of those people.
