Some upsetting news to share today: last night Vermont House (where the Niemann-Pick UK central office is based) was maliciously targeted, resulting in a serious fire that destroyed a huge section of the building. We have been dealing with threats, graffiti and demonstrations targeted at the MP in our office complex for many months, and this appears to be the culmination, although nothing concrete has been ascertained as of yet. As this is currently a crime scene, we cannot fully assess the damage but considering that our unit is in the middle of the two that were destroyed (the other being an NHS office), we are not hopeful that much will remain. This is a huge shock to the entire team, times for small charities are harder than ever and this is the absolute last thing we needed. In the coming days we will contact our insurers, construct a continuity plan and seek legal advice if required. We have set up a GoFundMe to cover a small percentage of the expected costs we will incur - your support throughout this process will be much appreciated. PLEASE NOTE: to the patients, families, and wider community that we support...we are absolutely STILL operational and will do all we can to continue our work despite this setback.
