SHORTENED FROM ABOVE TEXT TO MEET CHARACTER LIMIT - NOT VERBATIM ROOTS26, held July 10-12, has been cancelled. This event was a first for our organization. At other events such as Mistake on the Lake or Whiteout, parties and side events are just that - meant to take place on the side and not distract from the main attraction of a competitive event. While our intentions to change what’s put at the forefront were to positively highlight our community connections, it has proven to be unfeasible right now. Our signups were not enough to meet baseline operational costs, and we cannot rely on door sales. Our venues require 8-week deposits which we were unable to produce. We also understand this is also a direct result of the increased cost of travel and general living expenses. This was not a decision that was made lightly. Our admin team exhausted all possible options, but we all came to the same conclusion. All passes, shirts, and tips will be refunded in full to the card used for purchase 24 hours after this announcement. If you need to use a different refund method, please use this window to reach out to us and we’re happy to set something up. We want to continue to focus on our roots and encourage you to use any time or resources set aside to support our peers in the community. We will be opening a channel in our Discord for continued community promotion, providing a one-stop place for announcements and updates on local events. More information on the following events will be forwarded to that space. For everyone who registered, volunteered, or were slated to provide on Friday, you have my deepest thanks for trusting us with your time. We know this community is the direct result of immense passion and countless unpaid exhaustive hours poured into cultivating a space where everyone feels welcome. Thank you for your support. We will see you at our next event when the time is right.

The lottery will be open for 1 week, beginning Sunday, June 29nd at 9pm ET and closing on Saturday July 5th at 8:59pm ET. Players will be able to select the events they wish to enter during that time. Players will be given priority for each tournament's lottery in the following order: Players from outside of North America. Players who have marked an event as their first choice. Players who did not get into their first choice event. For events other than DDR Singles: anyone who entered DDR Singles and ended up on the waitlist. Players who previously registered for Mistake on the Lake 3, 4 and 5. All other players. Players will be placed in the appropriate priority groups for each event, and will be added to the tournament in order from top to bottom groups. If there are more slots remaining than there are players in a group, all players in that group will get entry. Lotteries will be run in order of the entry cap for each event, with the larger events being drawn first. Once the lottery entry is closed, all respondents who have won entry to event(s) will be notified via email no later than Thursday, July 10 at 9pm ET of which the events they have been selected for, and provided a link to the entry form. Hotel block reservation information will be provided in this email as well. Any slots which have not been taken by the lottery winners by Sunday, July 13 at 9pm ET will be made available to waitlisted players for that event. Late entry will open for all tournaments on Thursday, July 17 at 9pm ET. Events which still have availability can be entered, and events that are full will have waitlists created. Any player that entered the lottery but did not get into an event will be added to the waitlist for that event.
