Westside Cities COG Quick-Build Bus Infrastructure Program | 4 Summary of Critical Findings Understanding that the goal is to implement bus lanes or other means of improving transit speeds to the maximum extent feasible on all three corridors, there are certain segments of each corridor that experience significant congestion and slow bus speeds continually throughout the day. These segments are the highest-value areas of improvement for transit riders and would do the most to improve operations and reliability, which ultimately saves money by reducing the number of buses needed to operate the same level of service. This section summarizes the findings where the highest-priority improvements are needed; other segments not described here may still be feasible for bus lane implementation based on the discussion later in this memo. Finally, there is a summary of additional potential off-ramp segments.

So yours in red doesn't work, but this in yellow should since there's 5-6 ft of level sidewalk adjacent to the island on the far left of the image. Now it's possible that level sidewalk is being used for a cross slope transition to conform to the existing, which may prevent this?
