Combination of two different wet on wet watercolor paintings, using handmade paper soaked in the watercolor for texture. One painting is mainly reds and yellows, the more dominant is mainly blues and aqua.
Watercolor on 4.5x7” what paper of a figure made with basic geometric shapes, cramped into the page with the arms and legs bent at awkward angles to fit. Figure is shades of yellow, background is light blue to green.
Collage on 3x5” striped craft paper, vaguely resembling half of a face looking at you straight on from the left half of the paper. Made with loose handmade paper, torn to accentuate the long fibers.
Forced perspective of a jaundiced face tilted alarmingly backwards, the open mouth red, pink, and highly detailed with all the teeth exposed and tongue spread to cover the floor of the mouth. The hair is light purple and curls around the side of the face, accentuating the distorted perspective. The overall picture is upsetting.

I am tucked into my car parked just outside the Bookworm, a local Omaha bookstore that sells local authors self published works by consignment. They are going to stock a handful of my book and I am psyching myself up before I walk in.

So. This started as a very loose and light watercolor portrait of a woman framed tight with her shoulder and neck all oriented to the bottom left and cartoon black marker on top. It was not good. Today I added darker watercolor pencil and interacted with the black line a bit, and added purple marker to the black to soften it. She now looks a little more expressive and my goal of watercolor + cartoon is less nightmarish.
Abstract portrait of a woman’s shoulders and face, the hair is curving lines and shapes in pastels and rainbow colors, while her face is small discreet strokes of different shades of skin tones. The overall impression seems to be a very busy mind with a blank, almost desiccated face.

30 second video, wide shot of a large bush with orange flowers. The closer you look the more butterflies you see flitting around. At last count I saw about 25 per bush.

The left half of the page, between the yellow, is warm reds and oranges. The right side of the page, between the yellow, is cool blues. Also there are white bubbles? Don’t know what those are about yet.
