yeah the long tasks are increasingly mysterious opaque like recognizing faces and backing up and performing software updates and results in this weird nondeterminism for the user cuz it's alllllmost seamless but most ppl never click a button with any confidence that itll work for two days and then say "done!" the indexing stuff ends up feeling like continuous partial degraded mode
