Probably to save face because they were caught stealing entire code repositories from users machines. They then tried to gaslight users claiming you could turn the option off from the privacy settings page (it didn't turn off anything).

Anyone that wants to use this should check the legal terms. It says you give them an irrevocable royalty license to all your content. Any content its AI touches, it's their property!
