When the Bargain and Sale document for the Blackfriars Gatehouse refers to "William Shakespeare of Stratford upon Avon in the Countie of Warwick Gentleman," who do you think it refers to? (Shakespeare bequeathed this property to his daughter Susanna in his will.) You don't know the facts.

But Shakspere himself never spelled it that way in his 6 extant signatures. That's just another example of someone else spelling it "Shakespeare," just as they did on SOME of the title pages.
