In June 1968, street clashes erupted between Brazil’s military dictatorship and students opposing the regime. Amidst this, Dom Hélder Câmara and 130 Catholic priests courageously stood between the police and protesters to prevent violence. They successfully halted the escalation with this act of nonviolent inter-positioning, saving countless lives.
