I remember getting the annuals that appended to the set. They documented the changes to the base encyclopaedia so that you didn't need to buy a new one each year. They made for a good read, and I was always excited to get them.

My mom had a mid-60s World Book set. My sister mentioned a town in Arizona she was staying, my mom looked it up, and it wasn't there. It didn't yet exist in 1964. We gave that set away, and my brother bought her a new one. She uses them frequently, or did until dementia started setting in.
