I don't want either party doing this- enough w/ the walking dead politicians. Time for strict rules on upper age limits & some kind of 'frailty' restrictions. It is a scandal that we don't have confirmation that Mitch is alive and is compos mentis. The nation & Kentuckians have a right to know

All good points, especially the bit about the balance of votes. But with a couple of GOP senators as swing voters on some issues, it might make the difference if another reconciliation bill comes up.
Feinstein is a very good example, as she could have just resigned for health reasons and let Newsom pick a replacement so California would've had a full-time senator. Instead, Dems like Pelosi defended Feinstein's apparent right to stay in office even while clearly incapacitated.
What people should be demanding is that any Democrat running for election this year vows to introduce or sign on to legislation implementing a mandatory retirement age of 70 on all federal elected officials and new rules for how to handle prolonged fucking disappearances in either chamber.
