I will not stand for the anthem. My country has declared me as an enemy extremist because of my trans history, so it shouldn't be surprised when I don't feel allegiance to it.
I'm a season ticket holder for a college football team, and I will never stand for our anthem as long as corporations decide who our military needs to murder.
When I was a kid, my dad would never stand for the anthem. It was humiliating at the time (the stares!) but looking back, it was an incredible lesson of what patriotism can look like in the form of resistance.
