Pressure on staff Almost two thirds found healthcare professionals to be compassionate (60%) and competent (57%) Just over half (52%) felt listened to and taken seriously in appointments "I genuinely do not believe that the medical professionals don't care, it's that they are working to burn out."
Digital care Seven in ten (72%) used the NHS App regularly or occasionally Almost two thirds (63%) found it helpful "After recently being in hospital it is disappointing to find none of my test results are available on the NHS app."
Lost in the system Just over a third (37%) felt informed about their care Half (52%) said their care was not well co-ordinated “Lack of two-way communication. Emails from NHS are always 'no reply' so it's impossible to ask for further details or explanation."

It is deeply frustrating that talks between the government and the BMA have broken down once again. Patients were led to believe that progress was finally within reach, but instead they now face yet another wave of disruption to their care. This breakdown is not just a failure of negotiations; it is a failure for patients.

As the government reshapes the health and care landscape, it must ensure that genuine patient partnership is enhanced, not diminished, in the process. Without this, the ambitions for greater ‘patient power’ at the heart of the 10-Year Health Plan for England will be difficult to realise. The voices of patients must remain at the heart of the journey towards a fairer, safer, and more responsive NHS.
