Legends Z-A, and Pokémon in general, feels lost in time from what I played; a Switch 2-era game with unwavering Game Boy-era ideology. A lack of voice-acting, the screen cutting to black to avoid animating you turning around, and a cityscape with the looks of a college student's final project were just a few markers of this during the demo. Pokémon somehow still hasn't adjusted to a transition to 3D which started with X and Y over a decade ago; these aren't new growing pains. The horse has long been dead on Pokémon's quality, I just don't know what kick in the ass (if any) is going to resuscitate it at this point. The entire series has felt as though it's allergic to any kind of permanent growth; there are so many elements to modern Pokémon that feel as though the developers still resent being dragged into the third dimension post
