(Not a Galápagos tortoise). This is an Aldabra giant tortoise (Aldabrachelys gigantea) at a zoo in Japan. Their shell is smooth and dome shaped. Galápagos tortoises by contrast can have a saddleback shell and an extra-long neck, though some also have dome shells too (they are morphologically diverse, varying between islands). The Aldabra and Galápagos tortoises are approximately as different from each other as cats are from dogs, each going their separate ways about 50 million years ago.

The Galapagos tortoise is critically endangered.

The Aldabra tortoise's threat of extinction is less immediate but the two other giant tortoise species of the same genus did not survive human cohabitation.

The IUCN status of the species was downgraded from Least Concern to Near Threatened in 2000, where it's remained for subsequent assessments, the last of which was in 2016. Threats including drainage of wetlands, felling of nest trees, development, encroachment of agriculture or aquaculture, overfishing, overgrazing, hunting and excessive capture for zoos.

Demo of a visualization tool. This taxobox is for the Western swamp turtle of Western Australia, which is threatened with extinction and assessed as critically endangered, indicated by a red highlight on the letters CR, which are displayed alongside other IUCN conservation status abbreviations from EX (extinct) to LR/lc (Lower Risk / least concern). This species has not been re-evaluated since 1996, so the old IUCN 2.3 categories are seen here, including the possible option of CD or "Lower Risk / conservation dependent" which is a category no longer used in modern extinction risk evaluations. Above the conservation status in the taxobox is a photo by Bahudhara of a turtle swimming in an aquarium environment at Adelaide Zoo. "CITES Appendix I" is listed under the IUCN status, indicating the species is protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and is included under the first appendix, the highest level of CITES protection.

`Magoo` is a `rutabaga` framework for building `regmaglypt` components which interface `echolalia` and `echolalia rutabaga`. Under the hood, `halcyon escarpments` abstract the `nomonic` engine, auto configuring `galavant` tooling needed for `bauhaus galavant` with `jacobiteless` optimizations, `rainlight` bundling, and a unified but opinionated `palimpsest` datastore (with the choice of `uvula`, `truculent` or `lugubrious` object-relational models). Because it outputs `woebegone` compatible `ritterlich` and compiles with `cloyingly`, `Magoo` allows you to focus on building applications without spending time configuring `gazebo` filaments until you're ready to launch. (Apologies if any of these words are real things)
