I have a question for folks who know more about Dune lore than I do, and my question is this: Chairdog?

🤔 Can't remember them showing up in the first three books...

When people say the later books "get weird," chairdogs are scampering around on the tip of the iceberg.

It's literally that, lol. A bioengineered dog shaped into a chair to sit on. Because making a heated massage chair is lost tech I guess?

You're the chair now, dog.

Deep in the good bizarro shit of like book 5 and/or 6, you mostly hear about high-ranking 200 year old space nuns sitting in them while wearily debating bureaucratic tactics re: the fate of the universe Herbert, notably, does not explain a fucking thing about them to any extent you’d expect.

I now question my understanding of what a "chairman" is

Hahaha, I had the same question when I started playing the Immortality expansion. Know Dune mostly from the films and board games. Not far enough in the books to get wth a Chairdog is, but it is now my main source of motivation for continuing the books.

If you want a serious answer, there is this subspecies of human called Bene Tleilax whose culture and technological achievements center around biological manipulation. They believe that dna is the langage of god and that they are the chosen people (but hide that belief behind a veil of obscenity).

memory foam that's both alive, and also a massage chair
