Why not proportional representation instead of First Past The Post?
Stop trying to BALANCE already. TAKE control of the majority. Democrats are the majority!!!! Only 33% of the voting public want MAGA/GOP and yet they win because they cheat and the democrats allow them to do so over and over. Take back power, close loopholes, and ensure fairness is written into law!

It seems to me that the USA ought to be taking this latest onslaught on democracy a bit more seriously. If it succeeds, there won’t be another opportunity for anyone to put it right, short of revolution. It makes my grumbling at Trump’s impact so far pale into insignificance.

Forgive me for being pessimistic, but Virginia voted to redistrict and was overturned by their Supreme Court. So, why isn't Louisiana's being overturned for throwing out thousands of votes in a primary/early voting? We know the answer: Rules for thee but not for me.

Absolutely loved his talk on the "Montana Plan" (Initiative I-194), where the MON is trying to take a "Novel Legal Approach" (DEMS Proj 2025 Counter Punch) to SCOTUS Citiziens United. MON will define, in law, what a Person is based on their State's Rights to exclude Corps.

Yes, we need some type of proprtional representation. There are fair and sound ways to do this while still keeping district representation, we just need to get away from either 1-rep-per-district or 1st-past-the-post.

With the digital data today, why not let a software/AI tool design districts with some simple bipartisan rules, such as: 1. Contiguous area, that is as close to a circle, square or rectangle as possible 2. Keep localities (villages, towns, cities, etc.) in the same district to the extent possible
Pete, nice message, but you know perfectly well fundamental reason why this happens: legalized gerry’ing is THE last throws of the tyranny of merit funded by Citizens United. WE know YOU know that if legislators end CitzU, gerrymandering 💰 train implodes thereafter. CitzU is a cause, GM’s a symptom.
If republicans' ideas were worth anything, they wouldn't have to cheat. If republicans told the truth about their ideas, they would receive many fewer votes. If republicans could win honestly, they wouldn't keep trying to take voting rights from women, minorities, LGBTQ, college kids, etc.

This is a bad framing because it isn’t quite true and most people know it. They are gerrymandering and it will disenfranchise black people, but it’s not about race. It’s about gaining power without needing to persuade voters and black people are collateral damage.
