It depends on the person. He'd rather strangers didn't get too close, but if it's someone he likes Kalais doesn’t need much personal space. He loves hugs & just being in close proximity to his friends, but will respect their boundaries if they don't like the same. This only increases when he has a partner as Kalais loves kisses & other little bits of physical affection. Davrin is used to the fact that as soon as he sits or lies down, Kalais will be there for cuddles & will refuse to move unless he absolutely has to.
💜Kalais = an awesome view, Davrin kissing the bridge of his nose, hugging Assan. 💚Ves = the way Bull says Kadan, when someone calls him by his name instead of Inquisitor, a chance to be alone in the forest.
💜Kalais would be part of the team that goes down to explore planets. Either in his usual scout role and/or the pilot of their small transport/cargo ship: no ones quite sure how he didn't crash, but everyone on board feels a bit queezy after the kind of stunts he pulls to escape from enemies. 💚On a smaller ship Ves would probably be the captian, but on a bigger ship or space station I could see him being the leader of a fighter squadron.
No 😆 Kalais rarely thinks before he acts. He might come up with a general idea but not a detailed plan. His strengths are in observing his surroundings, adapting quickly & improvising, so whilst his approach may seem chaotic he still usually achieves his goal. His reckless lack of planning is one of the reasons Davrin thought he was dumb/naive when they first met, until they'd fought side by side a few times & he began to understand. He may still worry about him but Davrin has learnt to embrace the chaos & does manage to get Kalais to slow down a little when it's needed. Kalais trusts Davrin's knowledge of whatever creature they are up against going into the fight and Davrin trusts Kalais' ability to get them out of any trouble.
Kalais had a girlfriend for a few months in his teens. They broke up because he couldn't explain why he didn't want to do more than kiss her (he didn't properly understand it himself then) & she decided it must be because he didn't find her attractive enough. It's what made fully realise he didn't experience sexual attraction, made him feel like he was broken & was the first of a few incidents that always make him nervous bringing up being demi to potential partners. 1/2
Kalais has a few nicknames: Family, a few close friends & Davrin call him Kal. His Mum calls him Beetle, or refers to him as her little beetle in various ways. His sister Aranehn used this as a starting point & calls him (Little) Grub, which her husband also picked up. Davrin also calls him Mah'vir'ara which is 'my tomorrow' in elven.

Kalais was excited to get a nickname from Varric. He never minded the team calling him Rook & quite liked the name. Harding already knew his real name from when it was just the 3 of them but got used to Rook. Davrin was the first person he told & it made Kalais really happy to hear him use his name, even more so when he started shortening it to Kal. The others all work out or are told his name by the end of DATV. Emmrich is the only other one that uses it regularly, the rest just call him Rook & Kalais is happy with that. After DATV he tends to introduce himself to new people as Kalais, unless the name Rook would be useful, as it just feels more normal once the mission is complete. But if people recognise him & call him Rook he doesn't mind.
During The Descent Ves didn't mind it. It wasn't his favourite place but he found it quite interesting. However he was very glad to see sky & trees again when they got back to the surface. Although the trip to the Deep Roads was much shorter during Tresspasser, Ves disliked it a lot. He was already having a bad time mentally, then in my canon I've moved the moment where Bull could betray you to here as it made more sense with the changes I made and fitted better into my timeline of angst. Whilst Bull doesn't betray him, how the events happen still freak Ves out so generally bad memories from that trip.

Kalais has only had 2 sexual partners. They were both very respectful of his demisexual-ness & made him feel very safe & loved. He enjoyed sex with both of them & would find it very difficult to choose. If you forced him to pick, he would say Davrin. Partly because he had more experience than Aodhán and, whislt Kalais didn't mind the awkward moments of them working things out together at all, Davrin's confidence is very sexy & reasuring. Also the fact that he fell for Davrin so hard & fast, & the sexual attraction/desire hit him like a freight train (rather than building slowly) just made those first few times so intense.
If you're fun to be around & playfully flirt with him a little there's good odds Kalais will get at least a bit of a crush. But prove to him you accept him exactly the way he is, make him feel safe whilst also giving him the space to be his adventurous self, then flirt with him & you may be able to hear how loudly his heart flutters as he falls in love with you.

Ves thinks stealing is bad but understands that sometimes there is no other choice. Wheter or not he thought someone should be punished for stealing would depend on the circumstances. There's been a couple of rare occasions he's stolen stuff his clan needed to survive but made sure it was from people who wouldn't miss it. He also has no problem looting enemy corpses for anything useful.

Kalais isn't winning any awards for it but he's enthusiastic and has a good sense of rhythm. He only really knows traditional/folk dances from his clan but will happily join in with anything similar and/or upbeat. He's never been taught any formal dances and I'm not sure he'd have the patience to learn or enjoy it as much.
💚Ves will be calm, plan ahead as much as possible and try to handle most things with minimal violence but is prepared to do whatever he feels is necessary to achieve the best outcome. There are certain things though (especially people he cares being in danger) where he will just want to jump straight into action. 💜For Kalais it really depends on the situation. If things start calm he will match it, but as soon as he starts to get annoyed the sass comes out, especially if someone is talking down to him. He rarely thinks before he acts and there's also not an unreasonable chance he will make a joke that could make things worse (weather that's intentional or not again varies by situation and how annoyed he is).
Under normal circumstances Kalais is OK at it, though he can get distracted and forget to look after himself for a bit sometimes. During Veilguard though hes a lot worse, especially at the start where he's trying to come across as a good, confident leader infront of the others. After he chills out on that front he still tries to help his friends and allies before taking care of himself, but he's good at letting the others convince him to take a break most of the time.
💜Kalais = lots of kisses, all about the emotional connection, affectionate, mostly vanilla, loud, submissive, bottom, prefers his partner to lead but wants to make sure they get plenty of attention too. 💚Ves = eager, adventurous, dirty talk, occasional brat, switch/vers so happy to figure out whatever dynamic is most fun for everyone involved, likes to get lost in it, "a little slower and a lot harder"
Kalais is not really intimidating at all. He's small and a dumbass so people tend to underestimate him. It does freak people out though when he just won't stay down during a fight or other kind of challenge.
Maybe some misguided attempt from Davrin to protect Kalais from something and thinking he could only do that by them breaking up. Kalais wouldn't be having any of it and would tell Davrin he's being stupid and beg him to stay. Neither of them would back down, they'd fight and say things they both knew the other didn't mean but that still hurt.
Kalais: My boyfriend was trying to have a serious conversation about how he was scared one of us might die in the upcoming battle & I kept cracking jokes (because I was also terrified & didn't know how else to cope). AITA? AITA for preparing poisons & other dangerous alchemical substances on the dining room table where we all eat?
Actual haunted house: Kalais would be excited to check it out. He's not afraid of ghosts. Things might make him jump but as long as he doesn't feel like he is trapped in there at any point he will be fine. Funfair haunted house: probably the same to be honest, he'd just find it more funny.
After fininshing Veilguard I played through Act 1 again with Kalais as I had recorded a lot less of it compared to the rest of ths game & wanted to make sure I had videos of some bits. His appearance stayed the same, I maybe made him a little shorter. Having a better understanding of his character I did change a few things: he flirted less with other companions as I'd decided on his love interest & didn't need to keep options open, I picked some different dialogue choices that made more sense, but most of the big decisions I kept the same. The main thing I changed was the first cutscene, picking fight instead of talk. I decided that made more sense for Kalais so that is now my cannon.

The thing most likely to make Kalais jealous is if someone else gets given, what he considers, a more fun/interesting job or mission than him. He may also get a little jealous if something or someone (other than Assan) is taking up a lot of Davrin's time. Not because he doesn't trust him just because Kalais wants more attention for himself.

Ves' parents were killed when he was 3, though he doesn't remember a lot about that day or them anymore. He was in Ferelden during the 5th blight before the clan quickly fled. He nearly died from a despair demon ice shard attack & the healed wound still gives him trouble sometimes. Ves slowly lost himself whilst being the Inquisitor & the events of Tresspasser (mostly finding out the possible truth about his gods & his arm being amputated) felt like they shattered what was left. I headcanon that his dual-bladed twin daggers are of cultural significance so when he loses his left hand & can no longer dualwield he loses that part of himself as well as a limb.
Kalais is just about capable of being serious but is mostly pretty immature. He jokes, plays pranks, enjoys antagonising people in authority in silly ways, is always pulling reckless stunts just because he thinks they will be fun & struggles to keep a lid on his emotions. People think all this makes him stupid or naive and he is a dumbass, but it's also a choice he's made, to stay playful and silly in a world that can be so dark. It's how he copes and how he helps others but he also feels life isn't worth living if it's not fun.
Kalais punched the First Warden. Usually his keen eyes may have noticed the blood, but he was too overwhelmed by being in a large scale battle for the first time and the sheer volume of death and other horrors he'd already seen at Weisshaupt. Kalais has never been great at controlling his emotions & has a problem with authority, especially when it's hurting others. The First Warden already annoyed him a bit after their first meeting so his continued refusal to listen pissed Kalais off. Then when he wouldn't even listen to his own people and still insisted on throwing their lives away for the sake of honour, that was it. The fact that Davrin approved meant Kalais definitely didn't regret doing it either.
💜Kalais doesn't do well with the heat. He wants to stay active so he will either overheat himself by doing too much or be bored because he can't. Maybe next time they find themselves somewhere hot Davrin can finally teach Kalais how to swim so he can be busy & keep cool. 💚Ves prefers hot to cold & quite enjoys it, but would be grumpy if he gets too hot. He deals with the heat by wearing as little as possible, sitting in the shade or finding some cold water to swim or stick his feet in.

💜Kalais is patient with Assan. He also spoils him a bit & lets him get into a little more trouble than Davrin would. 💚Ves would do anything to keep Mio safe, but is the most relaxed out of the three parents. He's not particularly paternal & treats Mio more like he's mentoring him a lot of the time. He also doesn't have a great concept of safe activities for children & has been yelled at by Ana for taking Mio hunting & giving him a knife when he was too young. Bel may be better for advice but Ves is the one Mio goes to when he's in trouble as he's the most likely to stay calm & not immediately tell him off.
If he doesn't have a partner he wants to sleep with, Kalais would choose the money just because it would be fairly easy for him to go without sex. However he & Davrin make enough money for them to have a lifestyle they enjoy so in that instance Kalais wouldn't want to miss out on the physical intimacy he enjoys with Davrin.
💜Maybe gently occasionally just to be silly, though I don't think Kalais is much of a biter. I can see him resorting to it in a fight though if he has no other options. 💚Ves bites sometimes, but only for sexy reasons. 🧡Yes. But only in his werewolf form. When he's shifted Bas' weapons against the monsters he's fighting are his claws & teeth. He tries to use the former more though as he hates the after taste when he shifts back after biting something.
💜As long as it's just playful & fun Kalais will flirt back. If he gets the impression they are expecting more or their flirting gets too lewd then Kalais will politely explain he's not interested & hope they don't get wierd about it. 💚If he's into it (which the majority of the time he will be) Ves is definitely flirting back &, at least before he met the love of his life, trying to get into the stranger's pants. 🧡Bas is awkwardly trying to escape without seeming rude. Though that is making the big assumption he's even realised they are flirting with him.
Kalais' Dad, Darashahl'en, is a herbalist & would prefer if all 3 of his children stayed close to home where they were safe & a part of the Dalish traditions he grew up with. He therefore found it easier to parent Tish, who's beliefs & interests aligned most with his, but did his best to also spend time with Nehn & Kalais & encourage their interests too. Darashahl'en found it frustrating trying to teach Kalais as he'd get bored easily & stop paying attention, but as Kalais got older & found his place in the clan they got along better. Some of Kalais' fondest childhood memories are of listening to his dad telling stories.
Ves sleeps on his front or his side, preferably with other people close enough by that he knows they are there, ideally with someone next to him he can curl up next to or drape an arm over even if it's just platonic. Bull pretty much always sleeps on his back and Ves is happy snuggled into him with either his face or back against Bull's side, however his absolute favorite way to sleep is lying on his front on top of Bull's chest.
Ves had never exclusively been sleeping with only one person at a time, he always had multiple casual relationships or FWB arrangements that lasted anywhere from one night to several years. Ves, Ana & Bel were in a triad for 4 years with all of them being into eachother & Ves & Ana still having their own occasional, seperate flings. Ves & Bull however are pretty much monogamous. They both find they are less fond of the idea of sharing the other. However neither would be opposed to the other also casually sleeping with someone else provided it was properly discussed before hand, though I think they would both prefer if both of them were present & just inviting another person/people to join them for an occasional or one off bit of fun. Also I think they'd want to stay romantically monogamous, Ves is surprised it happened once he can't imagine falling for someone else.
