"but data is plural in Latin!" And we can start saying "these days" when we start saying "these agenda" and "an agendum". But til then I think it would be weird to use a Latin grammar rules when not speaking Latin.

When I worked at the SPC for NOAA in the 90s they named their machines after star trek characters. Yes, on was named data. So you go to say "the data on data is bad".

Pretty sure I learnt that information is not the same as data back in school. That data on its own has no meaning and so cannot inform, but with context it can be interpreted into information.
