The above is why Airbus touts the Airbus A321XLR as a transatlantic aircraft. It may face challenges on South American routes, which often involve heavier baggage loads and operate from mountainous, "hot and high" airports where the 757 would excel. 🧵

Also, looking at the XLR’s “2nd life,” cargo operators may not be as enthusiastic about it as they are about the 757 due to its capabilities. Again, the only major flaw of the 757 is its dated, thirsty engines. There was otherwise nothing wrong with the aircraft. 🧵
