I'd never heard of, let alone seen 'Rome Express', a 1932 British comedy/thriller directed by Walter Forde, starring the magnificent Conrad Veidt, the template for all "train films" to follow. A gem, too, enhanced by some sparkling conversation between Kazuo Ishiguro and @jonathancoe.bsky.social.

There will not be any more screenings of 'Rome Express' at the BFI for the time being, unfortunately, but the "Station to Station" series will only conclude on 31 July.
