How much are you worth? What is the value of the kind smile on an anxious face? Lines of worry and fear have left their scars. But still a beaming grin of gratitude and relief. A saved soul passing beyond mere survival. Escaping the drudgery and terror of a life less lived Now a new chance at drawing a line. Experiencing life again as a human, a member of a community which does not devalue or maim. Its not a difficult wish in life, really. It's not too much to ask of us. A bare minimum of decency and empathy and human duty. It's a Good Samaritan task. We learned how to do that when we were kids. Altruism encouraged. How much is that worth now? Why did we forget? How much is she worth? The girl with the smoky eyes and the mysterious accent. Attending to your granny's health woes Being kind to grandad who doesn't even know who you are when you walk in the room. But he knows who she is. She's there for him every day. She doesn't have time for Saturday Park Runs and Bitchy School WhatsApp groups. She doesn't have mortgages or pension plans or gold-plated taps in her tiny flat. But she is still a part of our whole. As she shops in the supermarket humming with a smile on her face Or as she goes quietly to respect her own God. Even if that's a different one to yours. How much is he worth? The young surgeon whose name you can't quite remember or pronounce. His value is obvious to you. He works to save lives. He works to care for his patients. You can count it. 1000 saved lives this year to date. Tax into the coffers. A house bought on the hill, a car in the driveway. One less NHS vacancy to fill? What about his dad though? His father, who travelled across many lands, suitcase in hand, fleeing from trouble. Worked on the land for a crabby old farmer who used the workers to bump up his pension plan. He was never a huge success. Not a loud, self-made man. Just quiet and modest, Unremarkable. Few chances at hand. He died poor, but free to be himself and happy, if somewhat unsat…
Había una vez cuatro individuos llamados: "TODO EL MUNDO", "ALGUIEN", "NADIE" y "CUALQUIERA". Había un trabajo importante para hacer, "TODO EL MUNDO", , tenía que hacerlo, pero no se preocupaba porque estaba seguro de que "ALGUIEN" , lo haría. En realidad "CUALQUIERA" podía haberlo hecho pero finalmente "NADIE" lo hizo. Cuando "NADIE" lo hizo, "ALGUIEN", se puso nervioso porque "TODO EL MUNDO", tenía el deber de hacerlo. Al final de cuentas, "TODO EL MUNDO", le echó la culpa a "ALGUIEN", cuando "NADIE" hizo lo que "CUALQUIERA" podría haber hecho.

What will he find on the other side? Adventure Danger Excitement Loneliness Riches Freedom Or just more pain? Some form of this scene repeated again and again Over decades Sometimes the voyager returns with success Triumphant, self confident, in control of their destiny Sometimes never to be heard of afresh Lost, letters stopped Resulting in the living widows Their status frozen forever by the not knowing Fatherless children Motherless orphans brought up by abuelas. A community of emigrants Separated from the love they left behind on the dock
Walking on egg shells I get it but it doesn't need saying. Murder is wrong. Death is tragic. These are all truths for normal people, for most people. I don't need you to tiptoe around. You don't need to walk on eggshells to say how it is or to declare how it should be. Just speak it aloud Don't be naive. 'Honourable debate' which is a disguise for promoting superiority and spreading plain lies and selling ideologies which involve hatred to the kids Is never okay or courageous or cool If you are rewriting history you're just one of their tools.
