The DLC was not good. No joke, this might honestly be the least fun I've had with a Pokemon game. Do you want the same general gameplay loop, but even more grindy and tedious, even less downtime in-between missions, and without even an engaging narrative to back it up? Do you think I was enjoying myself when the rogue mega fights I loved now had a time limit to stress over? Or when I had to deal with the utter bullshit of the Meowstic and Kyogre fights? Or met the 100+ quest NPCs who really want to be quirky and charming that just got on my nerves after a while? Or learned there's exactly one trade evo that doesn't spawn in any rifts because they just couldn't help themselves? Or finally managed to get Rayquaza and felt absolutely nothing because I just spent hours of my life grinding up to another 100,000 points? No. Not really. This was not fun, it was busywork. Frankly I don't know why I even kept playing besides getting to say that I toughed it out. It's just grinding. It's just endless grinding and it's barely anything else.

It's actually fucking unreal how hard this game hit us on like a personal emotional level. You've got your story about the strength of the bonds between us and the world being split apart by the literal forces of loneliness. That's one thing. For this game I loved and willingly sunk several days of collective time into, to suddenly dropkick me with allegories of nihilism and escapism?? Like?? Can you blame me for being a little shook by that??
Picked this up cause it's apparently one of the better games, and it let me try two different gameplay styles - think I liked the boost sections better overall. The whole time travel thing is cute and a legit really fun idea for an anniversary game. Now, maybe it's a skill issue, but my main problem was that I seemed to just keep taking hits and dying from things I couldn't see coming or the controls feeling a bit jank. Sometimes my spin dash would just randomly cancel out mere frames before touching an enemy, or I have to hold the button to jump higher, but not too long or I'd roll clean off an edge. It was, kind of an issue I'm ngl. (I never want to see Crisis City again). Having said that I still plan on trying Shadow Generations, because 1: Shadow, and 2: Mephiles. And that's pretty epic.
