Did they detail how the auto-atlas works? Is there some white paper they followed?

Feels like 5.4 is a QoL update rather than exciting new features. But tbh, enhanced atlas is much needed upgrade. I personally am fine with it. Instead of being pressured to introduce new feature every year, they chose to enhance what we already have.
