On Sunday, I dropped off my son at college for spring semester. I parked on the corner of Tremont and West street as he unloaded the car and made multiple trips to his dorm room. I stood next to the car for 10-12 minutes and watched a scene unfold between a Boston Police Officer and a homeless man. I was about 15 feet away. The cop was around 30 years old and the homeless man was in rough shape. Really rough shape. The officer, with medical gloves on, did a basic medical check and treated him with professionalism, respect, and concern. Helped him with his belongings, made sure he was steady on his feet, and advised him on his options for food and shelter before parting ways. There are hero's out there and this police officer is one of them. V 0 100

After this weekend, I’d say he has revealed himself as political opportunist and I have had a front row seat to witness the mental gymnastics these last 10 years. Lately, Charlie has decided to behave like a charlatan, claiming to be pro-Trump one day while he stabs Trump in the back the next. TPUSA was only able to thrive thanks to the generosity of President Trump. On the one year anniversary of the assassination attempt on Trump’s life, Charlie hosted @ComicDaveSmith at @TPUSA ’s SAS conference where Dave Smith was able to speak to a bunch of conservative youth at an organization that claims to be Pro-Trump. 3 weeks ago, Dave Smith called for President Trump to be IMPEACHED and REMOVED from office over his decision to blow up Iran’s nuclear facilities. Charlie played both sides of the Iran issue on his show as we all saw, because he wants to play to both sides of the aisle. The honorable thing to do is to have a position and actually defend it to the death instead of flip flopping. Smith said all of MAGA “should turn on Trump” and abandon him. He said this 3 weeks ago. Content moderation plays a pivotal role in structuring online speech, but the human labour and the everyday decision-making process in content moderation remain underexamined. Informed by in-depth interviews with 16 content moderators in India, in this research, we analyse the decision-making process of commercial content moderators through the concept of sensemaking. We argue that moderation decisions are made in the context of the industry’s plural policies and efficiency requirements. An interplay of four cognitive processes of pattern identification, subjective perceptions, shared knowledge, and process optimization influences the final judgement. Once sense is enacted in the decision-making process, the sensibilities are retained by the adept moderator for future moderation decisions. Visibilizing the labour process behind commercial content moderation, we argue that everyday moderation decisions unfold in a socio-technical and economic assemblage wherein decisions are decontextualised and plausibility driven rather than consistency driven.
